SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Biodiversity Technical Lead, contributes to some of Ekologika's areas of expertise including but not limitedto:High Conservation Value assessments and trainingBiodiversity, Socio-Economic and Cultural baseline surveys and managementConservation Management Planning / Best Management PracticesSpatial planning and Strategic Environmental AssessmentProject DevelopmentIn coordination with Ekologika staff and partners, the Biodiversity Technical Lead coordinates day-to-daybiodiversity-related aspects of projects at the species, sites and landscape levels. The main purpose of thisposition is to ensure that Ekologika continually improves its capacity and expertise for biodiversity conservationwithin the wider field of sustainable development.Ekologika manages numerous multi-disciplinary projects and therefore utilizes matrix management to respondto the needs of projects while maintaining ¢Ã¢‚¬Ã‹œadministrative based' line management. The Biodiversity technicalLead reports to the Director, is expected to become a project manager, and may also report to other managersfor specific projects (including subordinates).
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:Key Responsibility¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Develop and/or provide suitable biodiversity-related protocols for surveying and monitoring specific to field /project conditions.¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Develop and/or provide input for biodiversity management and monitoring recommendations as required byprojects.¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Plan and provide technical assistance and training needed by the company to deliver of project deliverablesrelated to biodiversity.¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Where assigned as team leader¢Ã¢‚¬Ã¢€such as for High Conservation Value (HCV) assessments or feasibility studies¢Ã¢‚¬Ã¢€directly coordinate the all project elements, teams and consultants to ensure high quality deliverables andprogress reports as required;¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Coordinate with other project team leaders, Technical leads, Managers and Director/s to develop and maintainbiodiversity-related proposals, work plans, trainings, budgets and reports as required;¢Ã¢‚¬•¢ Provide additional tasks with projects on an as required basis.
QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):Education: Advanced University degree (S2+) in Biological Sciences and Forestry.Work Experience: 10 years of experience working in similar roles with conservation organization, naturalresource extraction private sector, or further education organizations.Skills: In depth knowledge ofa. Species conservationb. Practical experience in applied conservation biologyc. Sustainable forestry and agriculture approaches (including certification)d. Landscape conservation approache. High Conservation Value (HCV) assessmentf. Climate change issues
Languages:Fluency in spoken and written Indonesian and EnglishGeneral:1. Strong coordination and team playing skills.2. Demonstrated ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams.3. Ability to engage in activities occurring in multiple sites with multiple stakeholders across Indonesia.4. Willingness to travel for significant periods of time away from point of contract.
